The Government of India is set to introduce the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill in the Lok Sabha today, February 05. The bill, presented by Dr. Jitendra Singh will aim to combat organised cheating in public exams. It focuses on punishing gangs, mafia, and colluding officials, not students, proposing imprisonment and fines for offenders. The move comes in response to recent exam paper leaks, causing widespread disruptions and affecting candidates. Various states, including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh, have enacted anti-paper leak laws to safeguard exam integrity.

Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) has postponed the Jharkhand General Graduate Qualified Combined Competitive Examination (JGGLCCE) – 2023, following a paper leak incident. Examinations on January 28, 2024, were cancelled due to leaked questions. The subsequent exam, scheduled for February 4, 2024, has also been postponed. JSSC issued an official notice citing security concerns. Candidates' protests ensued after a General Knowledge paper leak, leading to widespread disruptions. The new examination date will be announced soon, with investigations ongoing.

As of February 5, 2024, the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board extends the WBJEE 2024 registration deadline. Candidates have until today to submit applications, and the correction window is open until February 9, 2024. Originally scheduled to end on January 31, the process was rescheduled. Admit cards are set for release on April 18, leading to the entrance exam on April 28. Successful candidates gain eligibility for various programs in engineering, technology, pharmacy, and architecture across West Bengal.

FSFTI and PUCA request AICTE to exempt BBA and BCA colleges from approval requirements, citing their exclusion from AICTE purview since the enactment of the AICTE Act in 1987. Anshu Kataria, FSFTI President, and Amit Sharma, PUCA Senior Vice President, express surprise at the sudden inclusion of BBA and BCA colleges and highlight concerns about the financial burden on new institutions. The proposed Rs 20,000 approval/affiliation fee per course raises questions given the historical exemption of these courses from AICTE oversight.

The board, which introduced QR codes on papers to prevent leaks, traced the culprits through the codes and found evidence of intentional exam disruption.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the CSIR UGC NET December 2023 results for Junior Research Fellowship and Lectureship. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the permanent campus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Sambalpur, Odisha.
